Narendra Kumar, Rocky S, Nachiket Barve show their support in the fight against domestic violence as models Diandra Soares and Carol Gracias among others walk the ramp.

At a plush suburban Mumbai hotel, preparations are on in full swing. Microphones are being tested, AVs of sponsors are being played in the loop to ensure that no one's missed out and leggy models in various stages of being dressed are scurrying across the lobby.

This isn't usually the scene at the Sahara Star Hotel near Mumbai's domestic airport. The serene surroundings and the hushed atmosphere have given way to this bustling action. It will be a while before the real show begins.

We are here to celebrate the fourth anniversary celebrations of stylekandy.com, an Indian fashion portal and are waiting for the divas of the fashion world to descend. As minutes tick and it has been long enough to be fashionably late the people who matter stroll in.

Designers Narendra Kumar, Rocky S, Archana Kochhar, Nishka Lulla, Rahul Mishra and Nachiket Barve among others make their presence felt. These designers are to show some of their work on the ramp today and are to donate one of the designs for an online auction. Proceeds of this, we are told, will go towards Breakthrough, an international human rights organisation that works against domestic violence.

The evening started with Archana Kochhar's show with singer Sunidhi Chauhan concluding her line-up. Following her were designs by Narendra Kumar, Rocky S, Arshiya Fakih, Nachiket Barve, Babita Malkani, Krishna Mehta and Rahul Mishra. Neeta Lulla also showed her line but wasn't present to take the bow. Her daughter Nishka represented her instead.

Just as the evening was about to close, Manish Malhotra walked in true superstar style and had everyone's eyes trained on him.

Soon, the action shifted to the bar-lounge and the show area returned to its usual stupor.

Saying with a swish

Back in Black

Multicoloured hues

Designer Babita Malkani decides to bring out all the colours on her palette to this model's dress. We particularly like the pair of shorts and the turban.

Shrugging it off

Nachiket Barve is also known for his multi-coloured designs. Here he moves away from his trademark collection and goes for a plain red though we think the shrug is unmistakably Barve.

Krishna weaves her magic

The Anarkali design has been much in fashion for a while now. And though we still can't get over the one Deepika Padukone wore in Love Aaj Kal this one by Krishna Mehta kinda comes close.

Lady in red

We suspect the LBD has some serious competition from this little red dress by designer Narendra Kumar.

Taking a bow

Stop violence!

And the men come out

Smart suits, elegant handbags and a stray hat defined designer Rocky S's collection. His show brought the evening to a close.
