One pan recipes: How to make karela

Doing dishes is perhaps the least envious of all the kitchen chores. Abhishek Mande shows you how you can toss up a tasty meal using just one pan/kadai. Today, we made karela subzi.

Ingredients:

  • 200 gms chopped karela (bitter gourd)
  • 1 tsp red chillie powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 pinch of mustard seeds
  • A pinch of asafoetida
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp oil

Preparation

  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add mustard seeds and let them crackle.
  • Add asafoetida, turmeric, red chilli powder and salt.
  • Fry karela, stir well and cover with lid.
  • Let the karela cook partially and uncover the pan so the vegetable becomes crisp
