Your pix: From sun-kissed sands to Sholay Hills

We invited readers to send in their favourite travel pic -- that one photograph that perfectly captures the beauty of a place they visited. In response, readers have sent in wonderful photographs from all across India. Here we feature some of the photographs readers sent in:

First up is Praveen Kutaphale's picture of Thoseghar waterfalls near Satara in Maharashtra. The best time to visit this village in the Sahyadri Hills is during the monsoons when the waterfall is in full force.

Ramanagara Hills, Bangalore

"This pic was taken at Ramanagara during a rock climbing event," says Venkata Narasimhan KR "It is the same place where the Hindi movie Sholay was filmed." Ramanagara is located about 49 km from Bangalore.

Bhuban, Orissa

Hemananda Chinara shares this photograph of his 'beautiful' village of Bhuban in the Dhenkanal district of Orissa.

Ooty, Tamil Nadu

Ajay Agarwal says this about this pic taken during his visit to Nilgiris last month: "The best thing I like is the lush green tea gardens. You need to see it to believe the magic."

Manali, Himachal Pradesh

This is what Vineet K Singh says about this photograph taken during his visit to Manali in April: "It is an awesome afternoon view of the Marhi lake at Marhi 40 km ahead of Manali."

Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu

Reader Imran sent us this photograph of 'a goat sitting on a rock' taken during his recent visit to Mahabalipuram.

Sikkim

"Samrat Banerjee write: "I had taken this picture from a remote village called Borong in South Sikkim when I visited in May this year. This place is a trekker's paradise and is situated 20 km from the nearest town, Ravangla. I had taken this picture of Mt Norbu in the early morning and the view was breathtaking. The tranquility and remoteness of Borong is what I liked most."

Rajasthan

This picture was taken on the way from Jodhpur to Jaisalmer. Lamiya Manghnani writes: "My husband and I had taken a road trip from Mumbai to Rajasthan and on our way we came  across some breathtaking vistas of dessert beauty.

What we love about this picure is the stark but gorgeous contrast between the full blue sky and the sun-kissed sands of Rajasthan."

Alleppey, Kerala

Jay Radhakrishnan shares this photograph of the backwaters of Kerala. He writes, "The picture was taken during our visit to Kerala last summer. It was a great experience staying overnight in the boat and cruising through the backwaters of Alleppey."
