We invited readers to send in their favourite travel pic -- that one photograph that perfectly captures the beauty of a place they visited. There are few sights that compare to the beauty of the sunrise. Here we present some of the photographs readers sent in of the sunrises they have witnessed.

I visited Madkeri (Karnataka) back in September 2009 and I could not believe my eyes," says Sanjeev Anand Rao, who sends in this pic. "The sunrise is just amazing and my second eye (Nikon camera) captured it just as I wanted."

Mt Kanchenjunga


Next Somnath Chowdhury sends this pic of Mt Kanchenjunga at dawn seen from Aritar, Sikkim, one of the most remote places in Sikkim.

Amarkantak, Madhya Pradesh


Here Kaustav Chakraborty sends in this pic from his visist to Amarkantak last year.

"There is a place named Shon Bhadra, which, besides being the source point of the Shon river, also has a sunrise point. There we witnessed the beauty of nature."

Puri, Orissa


This picture was taken in December, 2008 when I visited Puri. It was a winter morning and after an overnight journey into the sea the fishermen tried to manage the nets that were full of fish," shares Soumen Mukherjee.
