Resortwear, ethnic, fall: Kabra covers it all

Designer Anand Kabra displayed an impressive array of creations on Day Four of Lakme Fashion Week.

Breaking into three distinct lines -- resortwear, fall and ethnic -- all the garments were inspired by the legendary princess Draupadi from the Mahabharata and the narrative dedicated to her in The Palace of Illusions by Indian-American author Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni.

Collectively titled 'She Was So Dark That She Was Blue', the designs were predominantly in blue, black and nude, while violet, green and yellow brightened things in print. The jewellery that went with the resort line was created by Bunty Bajaj of Krsala. Take a look.

Diandra Soares opened the show in this grey, yellow and black kaftan, worn over a string bikini top.

Severe style

Seen here is Candice Pinto in a severe grey tunic number, with buttoned detailing running diagonally across.

Keeping it casual

Sanea Sheikh keeps it casual in a becoming pair of overlayed capris and fitted turtleneck.

Wispy lavender

A wispy lavender mini with hints of grey and black is topped off with a deep blue shrug and neckscarf.

Statement piece

The focal point of this outfit is the single, exaggerated bell sleeve and black drape down one side.

Zany zippers

Dare to bare in this zipper-embellished ensemble, showing off the midriff and a thigh-high slit.

Deeper and darker

The garments now move to autumnwear with this all-black creation, showing off a lacy sheer mid-section and short asymmetrical jacket.

Electric appearance

Candice takes to the runway once more in a pocketed silk skirt and absolutely electric peek-a-boo sequinned top.

Mad about minis

Sanea shows off a beige mini with the same sparkling detail strategically covering up the otherwise see-through fabric.

Burst of colour

A button-up high-necked jacket, sparkling-bordered skirt and matching churidaar pants kick off the ethnic separates collection -- these were all designed keeping in mind mix-and-match possibilities.

Sheer is sexy

We loved this see-through kurta, worn over a bikini top -- it goes well with Kabra's trademark printed skirt.

Big crush

Beautiful blue comes to the fore with this crushed skirt, worn along with yet another see-through black kurta.

Dynamic drape

This lovely sari, set off to perfection by a long, minutely-pleated blouse, was the cynosure of all eyes.

Showstopping beauty

Lisa modelled the showstopping entry, a heavily worked beige number with a distinct bridal feel.

With a big smile

Kabra takes to the ramp at the end of a long but definitely dynamic showing.
