Fashion inspired by Goddess Parvati

The fourth day of Lakme Fashion Week saw Sashikant Naidu present his line 'Parvati' -- a range of ethnic designs inspired by goddess of the same name, who represents the woman of the universe.

Keeping in mind that these are summer garments, the designer chose cottons, tussars and muls to create free-flowing, comtemporary designs inspired by nature with an emphasis on khadi, which was entirely hand-painted. Check it out.

First up is this brown, billowing kaftan, with hints of shine and patterning that emerges from a large embroidered disc, which is the focal point of the piece.

Wispy floral

Next is a beige halter outfit, which flows into two distinct panels from either side of the neck, each embellished by pale blue florals.

Cool cascades

Nicole Faria stands tall in a one-sided cascading ensemble, moving from printed black to red.

Simple and summery

Marianna Dias models a pretty sun dress, which flairs becomingly at the bottom.

Foliage funk

Foliage comes to the fore on this green and white wrap-around number.

Asymmetric style

Surelee Joseph strikes a pose in an empire-waisted outfit that boasts of an asymmetric hemline.

Going the traditional route

We see Nicole Faria once more in a rather traditional-looking green and yellow drape.

Deep hues

Brown and black go together well on this sari -- and don't miss the lacy petticoat that in deliberately exposed around the ankles.

A gift of flowers

Naidu strikes a pose with his models, holding a bouquet that was presented to him at the end of the showing.
