Sar Pass, Himachal Pradesh

Sar Pass is a trek conducted by the Youth Hostels Association of India," says Chetan Tapase who sends in this pic.

"I took this photo back in May '09. It is of a partially frozen lake at Sar Pass and it was amazingly beautiful. The temperature had dipped to around -6 degrees."

Khindsi Lake, Maharashtra

Located just 50 kms from Nagpur, Maharashtra is this beautiful lake, surrounded on all sides by verdant forests, is a must-see," says Subhrasom Bandyopadhyay.

"Trekking aside, the big attraction here is water sports. One can choose from motor boats, pedal boats, rowing boats or even water scooters. I visited on January 1, 2010 and had a beautiful start to the year."

Hebbe Falls, Karnataka

This photograph is of Hebbe falls," says Jaywant.

"This waterfall is located near Kemmangundi hill station in Chikamangalur district. You can reach Kemmangundi by car, but the road to Hebbe falls is not very good. Only local 4x4 drive Jeeps can go there and the last 1 km stretch you will have to walk. You can go really close to the falls and feel that water sprays," he shares.

He also warns: "If you go in the middle of the rainy season or just after the rains, beware of leeches. This place is full of leaches in the wet season. Early winter is a good time to visit."

Goa

The last sunset of the year 2009 over Goan waters," says Guna Sekhar of this pic. "This was just before the celebrations for New Year started on December 31, 2009."

Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh

I took this picture on my trip to Tawang last February," says Niraj Bhuyan. "It's exact location is near Madhuri Lake (named after Bollywood siren Madhuri Dixit, after the movie Koyla was shot here)."

"The stream is frozen and it was really cold there but the beauty was mesmerising."

Tarkarli, Maharashtra

Sandip Mahajan sends in this pic of Tarkarli, Malvan.

"On a quite Sunday evening my friends and I were on the jetty of the Karli river when I took this pic."

Nainital, Uttarakhand

This photo of Naini lake was taken from Lake View Point, Nainital," says Rakesh S Chauhan.

"Naini lake is the heart and soul of the Sarovar Nagri Nainital city with everything centring around it. The beautiful lake has an ambiance that strikes you, refreshes you and welcomes you as soon as you enter the city. Walking along the lake in itself was great."

Kashid, Maharashtra

This pic was taken at Kashid near Alibaug by Sandip Mahajan.

"My friends and I were on a short holiday and while relaxing on the beach, I took this snap of the sun setting over the Arabian Sea. Kashid beach is also one of the cleanest beaches on the Konkan coast."

Puri, Orissa

We had rushed to Puri one weekend, with no plan, no hotel reservation and with RAC tickets. The weather was great, clear blue skies and the famous blue sea with big white waves running after you at the beach," says Anirban Mandal.

"We had a great time!"
