We invited you to send in unique summer-themed photographs -- odd scenes that are captured on a lens for posterity -- to share with other readers. Here is the first set of responses!
First up is this pic from Apurva Saxena. "A few days ago, my wife and I had gone on a trip to Murud Janjira, small coastal town (famous for it sea fort) near Mumbai," he says. "It was around 1 pm and extremely hot when we saw this cow, who was extremely thirsty. So she opened the tap with her mouth and then started drinking the water from it. After she had quenched her thirst, she coolly went her way, leaving the tap running!"
Share your interesting summer snapshots with us! They could be from anywhere across India or the world, but they have to be original.
Simply e-mail your photographs to getahead@rediff.co.in (subject line: 'Unusual summer pics') -- we'll publish the most interesting ones on rediff.com and in India Abroad. And make sure to include a little-write up of where you clicked the snap.

Prasun Sanyal from New Delhi sent in yet another snapshot from his village, Samaspur, in West Bengal. "This man is watering his potato field," he explains. "Due to the non-availability of power, farmers carry water in these pots and spread it across the whole field by hand."
Aravinth S from Chennai chose to send in this unusual image, shot from behind a pair of sun glasses.
This photograph was contributed by Vishal Chaugule of MIT Manipal. "Taken in Belur, Karnataka, the evening sky behind the famous Chennakesava Temple lit up in fiery red and orange hues and I had plenty of time to get this pic right," he says.
And finally, we have this picture e-mailed in by Sandeep Sekhon, of a vendor carrying a basket of veggies. Note how the fresh green in the basket is in stark contrast to its bearer, whose feet are caked in the dust and grime of summer.
