Unusual summer pics: A single diamond drop!

Last updated on: May 14, 2010 10:25 IST

We invited you to send in unique summer-themed photographs -- odd scenes that are captured on a lens for posterity -- to share with other readers. Here is the first set of responses!

First up is yet another of Prasun Sanyal's many contributions. "This is from the village of Samaspur in West Bengal," he says. "In the morning, when the climate is not so hot, I decided to take some snaps and noticed small drops of water on a leaf. Since it was near a pond, where bunches of small plants grow, I had to step very slowly into the water to shoot the pic."

Share your interesting summer snapshots with us! They could be from anywhere across India or the world, but they have to be original.

Simply e-mail your photographs to getahead@rediff.co.in (subject line: 'Unusual summer pics') -- we'll publish the most interesting ones on rediff.com and in India Abroad. And make sure to include a little-write up of where you e is summer, so your photograph has to gel with the season. Hurry and send in your entry today!

Would-be Princess Leia!

Rohan Kale sent in this hilarious image of a friend. "This is my friend, Ismail Jodiawla," he says. "My group of college friends and I were at a beach in Goa and it was so hot out there that Ismail fashioned this goat-like hat for himself out of his towel. He was looking darn funny in it and we had a good laugh!"

The tired turkey

Kale also sent in this image of a tired-looking turkey. "This pic was taken by me at a resort at Pawna Dam (near Lonavala)." The heat was so overpowering, he says, "the poor bird was so tired, it couldn't even walk properly."

Trying to beat the heat

Vishal Murgod from Bangalore sent in this picture. "I captured it from my car," he explains. "This labourer was trying to save himself from the heat with a piece of cloth; he was on a truck loaded with bricks that was ahead of me."
