Unusual summer pics: Umbrellas all in a row!

Last updated on: May 18, 2010 18:43 IST

We invited you to send in unique summer-themed photographs -- odd scenes that are captured on a lens for posterity -- to share with other readers. Here is the first set of responses!

First up is a photograph Shivani Rai sent in, shot in Florida. "They add colours to the white beach sand on a sunny afternoon," she says of the beach umbrellas lined up in a row.

Share your interesting summer snapshots with us! They could be from anywhere across India or the world, but they have to be original.

Simply e-mail your photographs to getahead@rediff.co.in (subject line: 'Unusual summer pics') -- we'll publish the most interesting ones on rediff.com and in India Abroad. And make sure to include a little-write up of where you clicked the snap.

Remember, the theme is summer, so your photograph has to gel with the season. Hurry and send in your entry today!

Disclaimer: The photographs featured in this series are, to the best of our knowledge, original entries submitted by readers. Rediff.com does not assume any responsibility for their originality.

Prasun Sanyal sent in this image, taken with his mobile camera. "I was waiting for a bus at the bus stop," he explains. "A truck came by with blocks of ice. Two workers were offloading the ice and taking it to a store nearby. It looked so great, in this hot summer!"

We received this pic from Abhisek Bhaduri, shot in Ooti. Note that the curious sign only says 'Ladies (sic) Sweater', seemingly in the middle of nowhere!

Prabhat Kumar Saraswat sent in this photograph of a tulip at the Keukenhof Gardens in the Netherlands. It's named after our very own Aishwarya Rai!

And finally, we have this image sent in by Vijay Phulwadhawa. "This thirsty woodpecker was shot in Nagpur at Ambhazari Garden," he says. "Nagpur is one of the hottest cities in summer; thankfully, the little birds have found a way to quench their thirst in the record-breaking scorching heat."
