Unusual summer pics: The relaxing rafter!
We invited you to send in unique summer-themed photographs -- odd scenes that are captured on a lens for posterity -- to share with other readers. Here is the first set of responses!
First up is a photograph from Atul Sharma of Noida. "This picture was shot by me when I was rafting on the river Ganga in Hrishikesh," he explains. "The rafting was about to end and this guy was relaxing in the water. He stayed in this position for nearly two kilometres!"

Exhausted butterfly
Nothing reminds you that summers here more than the delightful colours of a butterfy's wings. This one was sent in by Rohan Kale from Mumbai, who says, "I was at a function at Shivaji Park, when a butterfly came and just sat on my right hand. I removed my cellphone and clicked it and to my surprise, it didn't fly off for the next 4-5 minutes. I was just staring at it, admiring its colours and almost transperent wings..."
Tenderness of a tulip
Prabhat Kumar Saraswat e-mailed in this image, shot in the Keukenhof Gardens of Holland. "This is the most beautiful spring garden in the world," he says. "Lakhs and lakhs of tulips in different shapes, sizes and colours can be seen here."
A boat of ice!
Shivani Rai sent in this unusual pic taken in Florida, where a vendor is actually selling chilled drinks out of a boat stocked with crushed ice and beverages!
