Last updated on: May 24, 2010 13:05 IST

We invited you to send in unique summer-themed photographs -- odd scenes that are captured on a lens for posterity -- to share with other readers. Here is the first set of responses!

First up is a photograph shot in a park by Prashant Sanyal of New Delhi. "This man was resting amidst children shouting all around," he explains.

Share your interesting summer snapshots with us! They could be from anywhere across India or the world, but they have to be original.

Simply e-mail your photographs to getahead@rediff.co.in (subject line: 'Unusual summer pics') -- we'll publish the most interesting ones on rediff.com and in India Abroad. And make sure to include a little-write up of where you clicked the snap.

Remember, the theme is summer, so your photograph has to gel with the season. Hurry and send in your entry today!

Next we have this image sent in by Neha Aggarwal, which she says was clicked at her home in Patiala, Punjab. "When I got up in the morning, the plants were wet as it had just rained after a hot day. I liked the leaves with raindrops on them and captured the beauty of nature," she says.

We've received numerous pics of monkey antics from readers, but none were quite as interesting as this one, sent in by Ashish Satle. He managed to capture this solitary monkey feasting on chikki against a beautiful backdrop in Lonavla, Maharashtra.

Piling on!

Sooraj Patil from Pune e-mailed us this amusing image, taken at a bus stop in the village of Bedi, located approximately 60 kms from Belgaum in Karnataka.

"Modes of transport are scarce in Bedi," he says. "When summer is at its hottest and most humid, the people make use of all the space possible on the smallest transport vehicle (which I surely would not try to get onto!) to reach their destinations."

And finally, we have this photograph from Amit Jadhav of Mumbai. "These bulbuls appeared to be romancing under their wings," he says, "Or maybe they were just seeking protection from the summer sun!"
