Last updated on: May 25, 2010 11:48 IST

We invited you to send in unique summer-themed photographs -- odd scenes that are captured on a lens for posterity -- to share with other readers. Here is the first set of responses!

Aravinth S from Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu, sent us this unique image, which he calls 'Shadow Play. "It was taken when I was on my way home at 9:30 am," he explains. "I was struck by my shadow on the street; the sun was so bright that the road became a natural canvas for my shadow."

Share your interesting summer snapshots with us! They could be from anywhere across India or the world, but they have to be original.

Simply e-mail your photographs to getahead@rediff.co.in (subject line: 'Unusual summer pics') -- we'll publish the most interesting ones on rediff.com and in India Abroad. And make sure to include a little-write up of where you clicked the snap.

Remember, the theme is summer, so your photograph has to gel with the season. Hurry and send in your entry today!

Next we have this interesting image from Saurav Bhattacharya in Bangalore. "This was taken during my recent trip to Hogenakkal, on the Cauvery River," he says. "A vendor was seen selling chips and stuff to the tourists." And his store was this little boat, apparently!

Regular contributor Prasun Sanyal sent in this next one. "I took this photograph in the month of April in Delhi, when the hear is really intense," he says. "In the evenings, I go for a walk at a park by the lake near my residence. People come here to feed the geese. Due to hot weather in the afternoons, the caretaker locks up the birds in a cage, but he releases them each morning and evening. When I was walking by the lake, I saw them queue up in a line to search for food, it was rather funny."

Shilpee Srivastava from Varanasi had this to say about the entry she e-mailed in: "It's a unique photo shot in Devdari, in the Chandauli District near Varanasi. We research scholars from Banaras Hindu University were there on a group picnic. The waterfall of Devdari is situated on the Chandraprabha River and nearby is the Chandraprabha Dam. Around the waterfall, the forest area is full of natural beauty."

And finally, we have Shivani Rai's contribution -- an image of a man blowing bubbles underwater that she shot in Florida.
