Quirky Indian style hits Paris runway
Over-the-top sequins, geometric silhouettes and towering heels, along with all the theatrics of a typical Manish Arora showing took Paris Fashion Week by storm last Thursday.
The collection, 'baroque beachwear', showed off LED and crystal accoutrements and drew inspiration from both the artistic style of medieval Europe and Japanese artist Hiroshi Nagai's works.

Seen here is a pair of glimmering pastel hotpants, with an auto-themed bulky top and matching beaded hat, shaped like a vintage car.
Masked madness
Rather wearable shorts and a tank with embellishments are dramatised with this golden exoskeletal mask.
Feminine contrast
Multi-layered and multi-hued, this feminine cocktail was among the more wearable pieces from the line.
Alien princess
Arora can't refrain from shock value too long, however -- check out these yellow latex leggings, worn under a heart-crowded spangled dress and jacket with exaggerated shoulders.
Armour amour
Blues and gold clash on this armour-inspired number, but the focal point is definitely those sequinned shoes that wrap all the way up the calves to the knees!
Sculptural style
Soft coral and blue are hardened up with sculptured embellishments on this outlandish dress that's worthy of Lady Gaga.
Soft hue, heavy metal
The designer gives us a break from colour, but not from metallic motifs with this hip-heavy silhouette. And don't miss those gigantic arm accessories!
Ruffled eccentricity
We see a comeback of the heart motif on this ruffled reverie in red and white.
Plastic effect
What appear at first sight to be the model's legs are actually latex leggings with metal detailing, worn over sparkling red shoes. The overall effect is like the life-size limbs of a Barbie doll!
Hard structuring
A hard-bodied red jacket and matching skirt with dramatic hips make their presence felt on the runway.
