A look at the features and prices of top 10 budget QWERTY phones for this festive season.

There was a time when a mobile handset used to come with an antenna to catch the tower! Remember your first handset? It was not only bulky and heavy, but was also not good look-wise? Well, gone are those days and the mobile handset industry has eventually travelled a long way to reach where it is today!

Antennas gone, came the sleeker and good-looking mobiles with better keypads for easier texting.

Handsets like Nokia 3310, Samsung N700, etc have ruled over the market for long and are still considered among the best of phones.

Today, mobile phone industry shows a drastic jump that has landed up with smart phones, QWERTY keypads or/and touch screen handsets. Today's trend is either QWERTY or touch screen, and while most of the touch screen phones are priced high, we have many QWERTY phones to pick from and many of them won't make holes in your pocket too!

1. Nokia E63; Price: Rs 8,500

Nokia launched its entry-level budget QWERTY mobile E63 mainly for the text-addicts. This plastic body bar handset is 113x59x13 mm in size and weighs 126g. It has a 320 X 240 pixels 2.36" colour TFT screen and a 1600 X 1200 pixels with inbuilt 2 Megapixel camera.

Interestingly, the camera has a zoom and a flash along with several setting features.

Video recording option is available with resolution 320x240 15 fps and it supports video formats of 3GPP and MPEG 4/H.263.

Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPRS, EDGE and 3G are enabled in the handset. The inbuilt memory is not so huge with 110 MB but it is expandable to 8GB.

With games, java and flash lite loaded in the phone and a very good battery backup (as usual for Nokia phones), the Symbian OS handset quite rightfully stands at the top of budget QWERTY phone list.

Micromax is the new kid in the block, and gosh, it is doing quite well in the Indian market.

With stylish looks and several features, Micromax models like Q55 Bling, Q5, Q3 etc. have won many hearts.

Q7 Ezpad is one of those having a QWERTY keypad and plenty of mind-blowing features of the high-end mobile phones.

And the price? Affordable one to easily own!

Micromax Q7 is a Wi-Fi enabled handset with dual SIM support. There are two separate call buttons to navigate from one SIM to another. The bar phone has Facebook, Opera Mini, Nimbuzz and multi-messenger links preloaded to target the net-savvies.

The phone measures 110X59X10.7mm and weighs 100g. The 2.2" QVGA screen, 2 Megapixel camera, multi-format music player and video player, all harmonise with the catchy price tag.

It has an inbuilt memory of 78MB which is expandable to 4GB. The talk-time is pretty okay with 4.5 hours.

Bling Telecom's flagship brand Movil Mobile has recently launched IQ100, a fully loaded innovative calling device with features like answering machine, social networking and multimedia.

The QWERTY mobile has a 2.2" TFT screen, dual SIM support facility and 0.3 Megapixel VGA camera with flash and video support.

The phone measures 111x62x12.9mm and weighs 97g. Apart from the Gen Y looks, the phone has features with links to social networking sites like Yahoo, MSN and Facebook and the unique 'call attendant' function which receive calls and stores messages to playback them whenever needed.

Phonebook backup function is also there and the phone comes with a 2GB expandable memory.

FM radio, MP3 music player, Bluetooth and multiple games are few others to allure today's youth.

And yes, the battery is good enough to backup up to 12hours! A high-end multimedia phone at just Rs 3,200!
