Designer Anupamaa Dayal displayed her first-ever bridal collection on Day Three of Lakme Fashion Week.

Rich fabrics, jewel tones and traditional cuts characterised Anupamaa Dayal's bridal line at Lakme on the third day.

The designer stated that a trip to view the Mughal jewels at a Singapore museum inspired her to make her foray into bridal fashion. And to make it happen, she drew from "the extravagant crafts of Rajasthan, the brocades of Banares, the needlecraft of Lucknow and the ikats of Western India", among other traditional Indian arts.

The models stepped out in leisurely fashion, with each design carrying a royal name.

Here we see 'Noorjahan', a blood-red lehenga with antique Mughal-style peacock motif using the zardozi technique, with velvet choli and red odhni.

Next, a flaming orange sari with Parsi gara-embroidered flowers, flanked by a slim border of gota and mirrors makes its way onto the ramp.

'Risala'

Canary yellow, this Haryanvi ghagra shows off oversized Mughal blooms lined with blue printed silk; a champagne brocade waistcoat with embroidery compliments it well.

Green comes to the fore once more with this emerald chiffon cocktail dress; the embroidery is inspired by Victorian jewellery.

Blue is the colour of royals and Dayal exploits it to the fullest with this zardozi-worked satin drape, worn with a black sequinned bikini and jacket.

A gulabi pink lehenga is next, with gota and pearl embroidery. It goes well with a lime brocade blouse and sequin-spangled dupatta.
