Chitrangda Singh was perhaps one the first big stars at the Lakme Fashion Week. She walked for Arpan Vora, a bright young fashion designer who showed his collection on Day Three.

The collection sought its inspiration from the '50s and the '60s for the maxi dresses and the skirts. But the contemporary Indian touch was seen through a churidar here or a sari there.

Singh who counts the designer as one of her closest friends was the showstopper.

In an interview, the beauty speaks about her personal sense of style and how she takes the tag of being a 'thinking man's sex symbol'.

This is the first time Arpan Vora is showing at the Lakme Fashion Week. Have you been wearing his designs for a while?

Yes. In fact Arpan is a friend and I was quite excited when he asked me to walk for him. If you've seen the collection you'll see that it is inspired by the '50s and '60s fashion trends but at the same time has an Indian touch to it. For instance what I am wearing has a prom dress look to it but it has a deep back like that of an evening gown and is worn with a churidar.

Would you say you're feminine like the dress you're wearing?

Certainly! I've never been a tomboy -- I've done all the things that a girl should be doing like theatre or dancing.

'A tee doesn't make me any less feminine'

What's your personal sense of style then?

I am most comfortable in a tee, keds and a pair of jeans. But I don't think that would make me any less feminine than what I am.

What do you like about the line Arpan just showed?

I like the way he has balanced out Indian and Western and the old and the new. I think this one is for a woman who is brave enough to be feminine.

What is your favourite fashion accessory?

I love neckpieces and jewellery made out of cloth and street jewellery.

'Sex symbol? I am just me!'

Three things you don't leave your home without?

My iPhone, my lip gloss and my kajal.

Things you like to have within your reach.

A bottle of water and my television remote.

What do you make out of the tag most often used to describe you -- 'a thinking man's sex symbol'?

Oh I definitely take it as a compliment and feel flattered. Though, I don't try hard to live up to it in any way. I am just me!

What kind of movies do you watch?

I prefer romantic dramas and thrillers though I don't really enjoy science fiction a lot.

What would you count as your favourite films?

Inception, which I just watched, Legends of the Fall and Bridges of Madison County.

Finally, the one question that your fans would love to know the answer to: when do we see you next on the big screen?

By the end of this year! My next film is called Yeh Saali Zindagi, which is in the post productions stage and should be out by end 2010.
