PIX: Ethereal gowns and skinny minis

Presenting Jatin Varma's collection from the final day of Lakme Fashion Week.

Drawing inspiration from the Lady of the Labyrinth (a maze that was created for a king) in Greek mythology, Jatin Varma created a line of "uber-feminine dresses and gowns" on Day Five of the LFW.

According to the designer, "mazes are just like women -- easy to understand once you understand them".

Using the concept of the Labyrinth, he created both structured and fluid drapes that are complex and simple at the same time.

First up is this ethereal white corset gown with silver detail -- the model proceeded to recline on the catwalk to add a touch of drama to the proceedings. 

Belle in black

Next we have this LBD with a tuck at the waist, creating a silhouette that moves from slouchy to fitted.

Taking the plunge

The perfect cocktail number takes to the ramp -- a plunging knee-length dress that tapers up to the shoulders.

Shiny mix

Eveningwear comes to the fore once more with this blue-red mix that sweeps the floor.

Button blue

An asymmetric sheath stretches tight, with a cluster of buttons embellishing the waistline.

Knotty business

Pretty pink is drawn tightly around the neck in an embellished knot.

Winging it with wine

Anjali Lavanya steps out swathed in a wine-toned mini.

Earthy elegance

Burned maroon flows out of the wings with velvet detailing at the yolk.

Satin stunner

The designer follows up with another red carpet special, moving from a drape to fitted hips and back into a billowing skirt.

Sequin style

Black borders this full sequinned grey and white animal print.

Glittering gal

The final number is this heavy bling-thing jacket with exaggerated sleeves.
