PIX: 1950s Rock 'N' Roll styles on the ramp

Here's what Smriti Gupta's 'Jail House Rock' collection on the fifth and final day of the LFW was all about.

Channelling her love of alternative music and fashion, designer Smriti Gupta paid homage to Elvis Presley and the Rock 'n' Roll' revolution of the late '40s and early '50s at Lakme.

The 'Jail House Rock' line "stands for the strength, vibrancy and endurance of a cool rebel", in Gupta's own words and it is "hard-hittingly edgy, punky yet soulful in its appeal."

Stripes, checks, drapes and tie-'n'-dye were used to create the garments, accessorised with metallic rivets and fedoras in a throwback to the good old days -- check it out.

We start off with these funky pants, teamed with a tie-dye blouse and checkered neckscarf.

Another similarly printed tee is up next, with leggings and a matching tote.

Not jewellery but the motif -- on a feminine black number.

A slouching blouse falling off the shoulder holds appeal, while the scarf and glares pile on the attitude.

Surelee Joseph sails out in an elegant little cocktail with sparkling belt, while the billowing overlay adds drama.

The designer introduces red plaid with this asymmetrical jacket and handbag.

No-fuss pants and a vest are jazzed up using a red print-and-mirror add on.

For the prim 'n' proper little ladies, a checkered dress with bow-tie is ideal for high-street shopping.

Red 'n' black tie and dye cascades into pleats on this free-flowing midi number.

Gupta poses on the ramp much like her models as her showing draws to an end.
