We saw a lot of lovely ensembles dominate the ramp at the recently concluded Lakme Fashion Week.

Stunning satin evening gowns, gorgeous ghagaras and luscious lehengas swirled, twirled and preened as the audience looked on, mesmerised by the work on display.

Sparkling cutwork was the mainstay of a line by Arpan Vohra. This tiny jumpsuit worn by Nicole Faria, with its lovely little jacket, was one of the most eye-catching creations he offered up.

Classy couture

Manish Malhotra reaffirmed his reputation as the king of bridal couturiers with this spellbinding wine corset and whirling ghagara, carried off perfectly by Candice Pinto.

Besides the formals, a number of chic cocktails and semi-casuals also made it to the spotlight. We see Nicole Faria posing here in a lovely little satin ensemble from Debarun Mukherjee.

Designer Troy Costa went the red carpet route, offering up beautifully tailored gowns like this purple stunner, with slits at the neck and up one leg.

Also in the running for best outfit was this heavily sequinned ghagara choli with floral embroidery, once again by Satya Paul.

Cascading blue

Delicate as a butterfly, Vizyon's eveningwear included this flouncing blue empire waist with sweetheart neckline and just a hint of shimmer at the bodice.

Fuschia flair

With exquisitely finished silver cutwork circles caressing its shimmering pink borders, this Arpan Vohra sari certainly was the cynosure of all eyes.

Set in stone

Weighed down with perfectly set black stone embroidery, Anjali Lavanya's well-tailored jacket, the work of designer Rajat K Tangri, certainly commanded attention.

Dramatic drape

The sari is a romantic tradition in itself, but duo Abhi and Rahul went a step further, using a knee-length gold and pink jacket to add to the drama.

Nandita Thirani effortlessly blended Eastern and Western influences and the results were not only unusual but extremely attractive, like this velvety green and wispy purple dress with threadwork embellishments seen on Anjali Lavanya.

Making her foray into bridalwear for the first time was Anupamaa Dayal and she didn't disappoint -- get a load of this fresh orange, lime and pink ethnic embroidered ensemble.

Rajat K Tangri's showstopper sees him re-featured on the list -- actress Koena Mitra was a vivacious vision on the runway in black sparkles, ruffles and candy pink.
