We invited readers to share stories of how they met their spouses and interesting anecdotes about their wedding day. Gauri Patil shares her love story.

This was the time when I was preparing to go to UK for my further studies.

I applied for a Master's course in University Of Manchester and got selected.

It was at that time I met Viraj. Manchester University had this social portal with pictures and contacts of all its students to interact and get to know their fellow batch mates from different courses.

Viraj was in Nagpur that time and was also selected for a Master's course in the same university.

When he saw my picture on the portal he called me up and we and one of our friends decided to catch up when he came to Mumbai.

We met at Thane and spend some time together.

It was then he told me that he liked me.

At first I was really scandalised to get such a comment from a stranger and decided not to pursue any contact with him. This was July.

In September we went to Manchester for our Master's course and lost contact as both of us were busy studying and with our coursework.

In February we happened to meet again at a community party.

That's where we got talking. At first I was not very keen to keep in touch as was not really interested in him.

However he often encouraged me to accompany him to social gatherings, parties and trips organised by our university.

After avoiding for about 7-8 times I finally decided to end the persuasion by going along for once.

It was then as if magic worked between us. We begin to have great conversations and i started liking him gradually. We had many common and uncommon tastes and choices. However the most surprising co-incidence was that we both had twin sisters. That kind of got us talking so much more about each other and each other's lives.

In February next year, Viraj had to return to Nagpur to take care of his dad's business. I was in the UK till April and that was the time I realised that I had to live my life with him to be happy.

I came back in April from UK, till then my parents had already decided to start looking for alliances.

I told them about Viraj. Families met and the alliance was finalised.

We got married on November 13, 2009 and have just completed the first year of blissful marriage and looking forward to many more years.
