Here's your chance to be a part of The Oberoi Group or study at the prestigious Indian Institute of Science.

What

The Oberoi Group is inviting applications for the latest intake of students for its 'Systematic Training and Education Programme' or 'STEP'.

The 3-year programme combines practical on-the-job training with study towards a Bachelor of Tourism Studies (BTS) degree from the Indira Gandhi National Open University. 

The Oberoi Group's STEP offers students the opportunity of acquiring specific and specialised training and knowledge either in Kitchen Operations or Hotel Operations, while having time to study towards their relevant degree.

On successful completion of the 3-year programme, the candidate will be awarded a Bachelor of Tourism Studies (BTS) degree from IGNOU.

You will also receive a Certificate of Proficiency from The Oberoi Group for the training you will undergo during the three year STEP programme.

The STEP currently provides on-the-job training at the following Oberoi and Trident hotels and resorts:

  • The Oberoi, Bangalore
  • The Oberoi Amarvilas, Agra
  • The Oberoi Rajvilas, Jaipur
  • The Oberoi Udaivilas, Udaipur
  • The Oberoi Cecil, Shimla
  • Trident, Agra
  • Trident, Chennai
  • Trident, Gurgaon
  • Trident, Jaipur
  • Trident, Udaipur

Who can apply

Candidates should have passed class 12 by July 2012 and should be between 17 and 20 years of age as of July 1, 2012.

They must demonstrate strong academic performance in class 10 and 12 (minimum 50 per cent aggregate and 55 per cent in English in class 10).

Mode of selection

There will be three rounds of selection.

Round 1: Candidates are divided into groups of 15-20 participants and are taken through a round of activities and questionnaires. Here, the evaluator checks the candidates grooming, poise and spoken English

Round 2: Short-listed candidates from Round 1 are taken to another round of activities on the same day including a one-on-one meeting with a panel comprising of OCLD faculty. Here, the evaluator checks the candidates' aptitude for hospitality and gets to know them better.

Round 3: Short-listed candidates from Round 2 will be invited for counseling and an orientation in May.

The Oberoi Group bears most expenses on behalf of the trainee including shared accommodation, the fee for the BTS Degree and in addition gives a monthly stipend.

What

The Indian Institute of Science is inviting applications for admission to its 4-year Bachelor of Science (BS) programme.

Who can apply

Candidates who have completed their II PUC / class 12 in 2011 and those who are expecting to complete in 2012 are eligible to apply.

The candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as main subjects during their PUC/class 12.

Selection will be based on the merit list of one of the following national examination: KVPY-SA (selected as fellow in 2010-11), IIT-JEE (appearing in 2012), AIEEE (appearing in 2012), and AIPMT (appearing in 2012).
