IIT exam row resolved; advance test from 2013

The IIT entrance exam row was resolved at a meeting of the IIT Council by representatives from the government and directors of 16 institutes held on June 27.

The row over the entrance exam of the engineering institutions has ended as the standing council of the Indian Institutes of Technology addressing the concerns of IIT's has approved a fresh formula of an 'advanced test'.

Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, chairman of the standing council of the IIT, MM Sharma revealed that the details of the new entrance test format will be applicable from 2013.

Meanwhile, a member of the council, professor M Anandakrishnan has said that the meeting was a success.

Another member of the council, Deependra Hooda said that a sensible middle path had been reached between the council and the ministry.

Earlier, uproar began when a proposal for a common engineering entrance examination for the aspirants bagging a degree in engineering was proposed.
