The new exam which comprises Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main and JEE Advanced will be held for the first time on April 7, 2013 and June 2, 2013 respectively.

For those who missed the live chat, here's the unedited transcript:

shreya asked, Hi sir, i want to know how much i should score in jee mains and advanced to make it to the IITs. please guide me

Vivek _ Plancess answers,
Dear Shreya.....Many of Aspirants are worried about this question, i request you not to give thought on the cut off as its a competitive exam so it also depends on how others are performing.....Please try to score as much as you can.... Once again i advice you to concentrate on studies.
Dipak asked, will the new paper be different from the old jee?

Vivek _ Plancess answers,
No, Jee mains will be similar to AIEEE & JEE Advanced will be similar to IIT-JEE
shubham asked, Dear Mr.Vivek does Vivek_plancess provide any crash course(correspondence)

Vivek _ Plancess answers,
Dear Shubham...Plancess Provide video Lectures which is delivered by top 100 Rankers of 2009 batch ( AIR 07,21,22,30,etc)....Users have the option to buy single topics also which helps them to improve their weak areas
codebug asked, will JEE advance would be Subjective like it used to be earlier days ??

Vivek _ Plancess answers,
No ... To view sample paper you can refer last year's IITJEE paper
ananth asked, my daughter will be wring iseet in 2014 she is with fitjee Pls advice what else does she need to do for her preparation

Vivek _ Plancess answers,
Dear Ananth....She needs to follow the instructions prescribed by FITJEE....And more importantly self study is required to crack IITJEE....Another parameter being consistency ... Let me know if you have more doubts
chitra asked, sir, is FIITJEE test series mandatory for clearing IITJEE ?

Vivek _ Plancess answers,
No....But many students do enroll for FITJEE Test series. Since large no of students enrol for it, students get a better feel of the competition.
chitra asked, sir, i do very well at school but am lacking in my IITJEE coaching exams...what could be the reasons ? also please could you give me tips on increasing my speed in writing a test paper ?

Vivek _ Plancess answers,
Dear Chitra....You need to understand that board syllabus & IITJEE syllabus is almost same, only the difference is with regards to toughness.... So first you should start with solving the basic questions and then go for IITJEE questions ... You need to give more time to your studies. You can increase speed by improving concentration and solving more no of questions. Let me know if any more tips are required.
rohit asked, sir, how can I ensure a seat in a good engg college! Could you please give an indicative percentage to be scored in 12th and performance required in JEE! The picture is unclear because of the changed exam pattern! Will ISEET 2013 actually increase competition

Vivek _ Plancess answers,
Dear Rohit....As it's a competitive world out there, you should aim to be on the top...but you will need a minimum score to qualify and hence you should target 85% in boards and 50 % in JEE Advanced
MBSRAO asked, Is it true that CBSE curriculum is more beneficial for competitive exams compared to ICSE & state boards.

Vivek _ Plancess answers,
Ya it's true but to clear JEE Mains & JEE Advanced you have to refer some other standard books like HCV,JD LEE, etc...so it doesn't make a huge difference in which board you are...
Aruna asked, Mr Vivek, w.r.t your reply to chitra on FIITHEE test series, is it true that the difficulty level of the test series is higher than that of the actual JEE?

Vivek _ Plancess answers,
Yes you are absolutely right.

'Try to solve as many questions as you can'

nsvkc asked,
Sir Pl tell in selecting 1.5L student list from main exam they will add 40 % marks of +2 or not

Vivek _ Plancess answers,
No ...to appear in JEE Advanced they will only look for your JEE mains score... But you will be allotted an IIT on the basis of the rank secured in JEE Advanced. Keep in mind that you have to be in the top 20 percentile of your respective boards to make it there.
shubham asked, Dear Mr.Vivek how I can contact you. you may reply on my father's email csjha2002@rediffmail.com

Vivek _ Plancess answers,
Dear Shubham ... you can reach me on vivekgupta@plancess.com.
Aruna asked, Thanks you for your reply. Is there any comparitive index with which I can measure my performance in Tets series vis-a-vis actual JEE? Thanks

Vivek _ Plancess answers,
Test series are meant to help you evaluate how you are performing and also to an extent gauge you on where you stand nationally. If you enrol FITJEE/ Resonance test series, you will find larger no of students to compete with, thus giving you a better evaluation.
nsvkc asked, Sir, They will take 1.5L student for JEE from Mains. If suppose 10 students have same marks at 150000level what they will do.

Vivek _ Plancess answers,
All those 10 will be allowed to go through
MBSRAO asked, Neha: At present I am in class VIII. Is there any special effort required from now onwards for ISEET. Some scools are giving extra classes for Cl-VII onwards. What do you say?

Vivek _ Plancess answers,
Dear Neha...right now, just focus on class VIII and try to understand each and every concept. Also try to solve as many questions as you can so to have better understanding of the subject.
chitra asked, Sir - How should ICSE students prepare for this exam?

Vivek _ Plancess answers,
Dear Chitra...As i mentioned earlier, the board syllabus and IITEE Syllabus is almost same & only difference is of toughness ...so your strategy is to first get the basic understanding of topic ie finish theory first then solve basic questions ( at the board level). Once you are comfortable with that you can try to solve IITJEE questions
Aruna asked, From your experience, how far the preparations for JEE will help in getting a good score in BITSAT?

Vivek _ Plancess answers,
Only difference is of English....if you are prepared for IITJEE , you can easily crack BITSAT
nsvkc asked, What is best book for maths except RD Sharma

Vivek _ Plancess answers,
Problems in Calculus of One Variable, By I.A. Maron (Very nice book, one must solve function, Limit & Continuity, Differential, Integral & Definite Integral of this book.) and Higher Algebra, by Hall & Knight (Complex Number, Series & Sequence of Series.)
