Samsung Galaxy S III Mini to launch on October 11?

The Samsung vs Apple war is all set to witness a new dimension as the cyber world goes abuzz with the launch of Samsung Galaxy S III Mini – a smaller version of the record-breaking Samsung Galaxy S III -- on October 11 even as rumours grow louder of an iPad Mini sometime later on October 17.

What gives credence to the launch of the S III Mini is the appearance of a retail listing by a Nordic retailer as reported by a popular technology blog like Engadget.

Codenamed GT I8190, the S III Mini, claims this listing, will be available in two colours – blue and white.

The 4-inch S III Mini will reportedly clash with Apple's recently launched iPad 5 that comes with a similar display real estate. Interestingly, the retail listing shows an S III Mini with and without near field communication (NFC) capability.

Since it is likely to officially launch October 11 some of the rumours around the S III Mini's specs reveal that the screen resolution will be either 800X480 (according to BGR) or 960X540 (GLBenchmark) and run on the latest Android OS, Jelly Bean, a dual core 1.4 GHz processor and sport a 5 Megapixel snapper.

A couple of weeks ago the media had reported about an invite from the South Korean electronics major that said "Get ready for a little sensation. So big can be small and so small can be big" in German.

Interestingly, the price points at which the S III Mini will be available varies significantly across different tech blogs.

While Engadget believes the S III Mini will be priced "with or without an NFC chip, for $ 540 and $ 560 (Rs 28,620 to Rs 29,680) respectively."

SamMobile, another popular tech blog expects it to cost around 250 Euros (or $ 323) that roughly translates to Rs 17,200 (assuming a dollar rupee exchange rate of Rs 53).
