Jab We Met: 'I proposed marriage without meeting her'

Last updated on: February 14, 2013 10:29 IST

We had invited you, our readers to share your love story this Valentine's Day.

Roshan Kumar from Jharkhand found love through a social networking site. This is his story:

Like most of the online stories, my love story started through Facebook.

I was just flipping through the FB page when I found this beautiful profile picture of a girl.

After going to her home page I found the girl to be from Assamese and I being from Jharkhand it was very rare for me to have a friend from the North East.

She was looking gorgeous in most of her snaps.

I sent her a friend request almost two years ago and fortunately for me she accepted. I don't know why.

Our first conversation started with just hi and hello. She was pursuing her BCA from Bangalore and I was working for a company in Patna.

What started as a formal conversation gradually had us sharing jokes and flirty shayari from my side.

She never took me seriously. I'd religiously wait for her to come online at 10 pm just to say Hi.

After three months of friendship I asked for her phone number only to call her after her consent. She gave her number when I emotionally blackmailed her that I want to call her on her birthday.

She gave the number but not the consent. Even on her birthday she asked me to send her an SMS than call her.

However in the meantime I had started liking her even before seeing her.

And like many other love stories my testing time was about to start. She finished her graduation and shifted to her home in Guwahati.

FB which was the only hope had poised some difficulties for her.

She was a singer and some person who was friends with her had started creating problems because of which she deleted her account.

Although she informed me about her action it was the only hope to talk to her as she never gave me the permission to call her.

By God's grace I managed to convince her to share her new Assam number, which she gave only to reply to my SMSes occasionally.

I sometimes got disheartened but it was my love towards her that I kept sending her SMS daily without expecting her reply.

This went for nearly two months and I didn't receive any replies from her.

In the meantime I started feeling that she perhaps did not consider me as her friend, forget love and marriage.

But slowly things changed

I sent her a friend request on her new FB Id and once again we started talking occasionally.

Finally one day when I was returning to Patna from my hometown and chatting with her on SMS, she asked me to call her if I wanted to talk.

I happily obliged.

After that I always call her any time only to find her call unanswered but slowly, she started picking up the call only to talk for a minute or two.

One such night when we talked for more than an hour, when I requested, she agreed to sing a song which was truly melodious. That night I talked to her for more than three hours.

God only knows what prompted her to talk to me for such a long time.

'She bears all my nonsense'

Just when I had started thinking that the she had started considering me as her good friend, I got a reality check when I found some sentimental and emotional updates on Facebook which was certainly for someone else.

Times flew out of the window and I started missing her more often.

Once when I found her more depressed than before, I messaged her to be alright.

When I called her she didn't answer.

By this time I had started loving her and she had no clue about that.

Things changed and she started answering my calls regularly. I took care of her and made her laugh at any cost.

Slowly I become a good friend for her but my love for her was increasing day by day.

With every passing day I was getting close to her and even flirted with her. She started understanding me and was getting the vibes that I love her too.

One such night we almost spoke for 6 hours. I was going completely crazy about her.

On December 4, 2012 when she was returning home in a bus I proposed her for marriage even before seeing her.

To my utter surprise she accepted and after that I met her at Guwahati only to find her more beautiful than those photos.

There was some drama at my house. I had to convince my parents who were strongly against love marriage. But after some resistance they agreed.

It was the happiest day of my life when I got married to a girl to whom I was unknown for more than a year, but fell in love and got married in the next year.

To me she is the world and I love loving her all the time. I like to take care of her more than anyone else in this world.

Sometimes, I torture her by singing songs in my utterly bad voice.

She bears all my nonsense because she knows that this nonsense loves her more than anybody else in this world.

Jab We Met: 'I tried everything to gain her attention'

Sasank Venkatapuram revisits a part of his life he once cherished so dearly and tells us how the experience left him guilty.

First of all, I apologise for my bad English written skills.

It all started around 2 and half years back. I was working at a client location and used to talk to my friend over the phone.

One day he told me that new members had joined in our group, and among them one girl met my criteria (blunt, childish, confident blah blah).

But he warned me that no one in the team liked her for her behaviour.

After this he never spoke about it.

I returned to office after three months. I went to my project hall, and saw a girl who was discussing something with a senior over there.

I got instantly attracted to her. I just observed her continuously for 3-4 hours on that day.

Then I met my friend and enquired about the girl he mentioned over the phone and came to know that it was the girl I had seen in the morning.

Initially, I thought it was just attraction.

But I was not able to forget her. I became very desperate to see her, so canceled my vacation and went back to office.

Then I tried to talk to her, but nothing went in my favour for the 10-12 days.

One day in the lab, I got a chance to talk to her.

It was more like a formal discussion about educational background and work.

Thereafter, whenever we faced each other we would talk for 4-5 minutes.

I felt I was moving closer to her.

I thought I did not deserve this and wanted to put a full stop.

I tried but I couldn't. Because I felt better and happy when I talked to her or saw her.

I tried everything to gain her attention. And after 1 month, we stated talking more with each other. She even added me in her chat list.

We used to chat a lot during weekends. I used to share software and movies in a pen drive and intentionally forget to take it back.

This way, the next day I could get a chance to talk to her when taking it back.

It went on like this 3-4 months.

During this time she told some people in our team that among the seniors I was a good and understanding person (may be I acted politely with her, not sure of my behaviour).

During all this period I was worried where I was going to land with this. There was a kind of feeling in me (not sure, might be the same with others) that, if I propose will she ever accept my love for her.

This feeling was because, I had a problem with my leg (I am physically handicapped) and it was always a big hurdle for me to move forward in this relation.

I was becoming so restless and at this moment my boss offered a long term distant working opportunity and told me to confirm my decision within five days.

I was in a dilemma and one of my friends gave me a free/good advice. He said, "Just go and tell her how you feel or accept the offer from your boss and go away, so that you can forget her easily."

After much thinking, I decided to move away. Hence I told yes to my boss and he told me to get ready to leave in 40 days.

I told her the same in office, but she behaved as if she was busy and left. After that she didn't speak to me for 4 days.

Then again she started talking normally. Previously whenever I asked for to spare free time to have a personal chat, she'd insist that I tell her in chat only and I would skip it.

This went on for some time. Sometimes she'd behave as if she was not at all interested in talking to me and sometimes she will talk or chat with me a lot.

I became more worried that, if I move closer to her, I don't know unintentionally I may propose her and I always worried that her reaction would 99 per cent be a No.

Even if it was a No, I was more worried, how she'd treat me after that. Hence I requested my boss to prepone my journey and he proponed it by 11 days.

Before the day I left, I met her in the office and wished her all the best for her career.

The next day I was packing my stuff and had to leave in another 5 hours. I started browsing the internet to check the departure status of flights.

She was online at this moment. After exchanging hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii's (she used to say hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii always), 2 minutes later, I said bye.

But her words sounded different to me that day. I felt, for the first time she behaved some what different.

She asked, "What's your sixth sense telling about me. Mine is not working. If I had been at your place I would jump with joy"

I was thinking what to answer, when she texted, "Hello I am asking you only, is your mind blocked?"

I told her it won't be good to tell all this in chat. She asked again and replied, "I am crazy about you".

As expected, she got angry and left.

I did not know what do to. With that feeling I traveled to client location.

I mailed her many time and even told sorry if she was hurt with my words. But there was no reply.

'I always believed that, we should not force someone to love us'

I was not able to work properly.

After 40 days, I decided to go back and talk to her in person for one last time.

I told my boss, that I wanted to go back for some personal reasons. They were angry and told me it was not possible to send me back immediately.

They asked me to stay there for four months to find a replacement and train him.

During this time I got a reply from her to one of my mails, saying, "Pls don't disturb me and I don't want any mails from you".

I didn't understand this.

I never spoke anything about love or things which would have caused discomfort to her in any of the mails.

Finally after four months I went back to my office. Her birthday was due in two days. I tried to talk to her on that day, but she was very happy with her friends and teammates. I thought not speak to her and cause any discomfort.

During this period (nearly 15 months after coming back to office), I never talked to her or even look at her. Whenever, I decided to speak with her, her mail always reminded me not to disturb her.

Though I have feelings for her, I always believed that, we should not force someone to love us.

Hence I never talked about this with her after that incident. But I always believed that she will respect my feelings and continue to talk normally like she spoke with others.

15 months passed, and I eventually resigned.

It's been almost 21 months since she stopped talking to me. On my last day, I just felt it would be good to tell her also, that I was leaving.

I thought she would talk to me or at least say goodbye or all the best or something.

I went to her place. I said "Hi, how are you?".

There was no response.

I said, "Today is my last day and I am leaving." Still no response.

"Just came to said bye to you." No response.

I asked, "Are you busy with work?" No response.

I stayed there for 30 seconds, and she didn't even look at me. All her teammates started looking at me.

I left that place and pinged her in office messenger that I wanted to talk with her for 2 minutes, so that our misunderstandings' would be cleared.

She replied, "I don't have any misunderstandings with you."

I said, "Then, why you are not talking with me like you talk to others? I never misbehaved with you or forced you."

She replied, "I don't want to talk with you and I am not feeling well, pls don't message me."

I did not know what to do.

I just messaged her, "Thanks for making me to feel guilty for the rest of my life."

'The way she behaved with me always made me guilty'

Till date, I don't understand why she stopped talking to me.

I don't know whether I was right or wrong (by expressing my feelings to her). It will always let us down, when some one we love rejects us.

However there is a good chance to take that in a positive way if the other person at least respects our feelings.

My point here is that if she had no feelings for me, she could have continued to behave normally with me.

I never forced her to love me or discussed these kind of topics with her.

They were my feelings and if anyone has to suffer in this, eventually it was going to be me. The love is mine and the suffering will be mine.

I never apologised her for my feelings because I don't know how they came.

I only apologised fearing she might be hurt after listening to my feelings because I think I was in my senses when I told her about this.

The same thing I wrote her in an email and till date there has been no response for that also.

It's been 22 months since we spoke to each other. She didn't even give me a chance to talk to her. Is it wrong to tell someone how we feel about them?

The way she behaved with me always made me guilty.

I don't know what to do to, to come out of this.

I tried many ways to keep myself busy.

I know that I will be relieved only if she comes and talks to me.

Even today I have feelings for her.

Sometimes I feel like I am losing all my self respect whenever I write a mail to her.

Still I sent those mails to her, hoping that she will behave normally.

This guilt feeling (don't know why guilty) is always pulling me down, whenever I feel happy with something.

With all this in my mind, I left the company and the city.

I wrote her an email on the day I left the company.

I don't know if I'll ever get a chance to talk to her or get a reply from her.

Ooops! Just realised it's a big mail. Thanks for reading patiently guys. Wish everyone all the best and a guilty-free life.

Jab We Met: 'My eyes were searching for her'

Swapnil Jadhav tells us how he fell in love with the girl with cute eyes from his office:

I met my first and true sweet love in February 2010.

I had gone for an interview and seen a very sweet, beautiful girl with cute eyes. It was her eyes and face that attracted me.

I was just staring at her even forgetting that I had come for an interview. After seing her I was just praying that I should get the job. And I got the job.

I was waiting for my joining day.

On the first day of my office my eyes were searching for her.

I got a glance of her beautiful face. Every day while coming to office, first thing I would notice her beautiful face. She was nice.

Within two weeks, she noticed that I was looking at her. Whenever she came in front of me, my heart would beat faster.

One day, while I was on my way home, I ignored that she was also coming my way. She came beside me and asked whether I had joined recently.

I said 'Yes'.

That's how we started talking. I asked her name and where she lived.

Her name was Sweetty, she was just like her name

I was dying to go home and talk to her. She also waited for my call. She'd share everything with me, about her family, friends, office etc.

Then she took leave for her exam. I was missing her.

So I called her and said, "I miss you".

Then between our sweet conversations, I indirectly asked about love. She knew that I would propose her.

We started sending SMSes, chat and e-mail.

Once when I called her late night she spoke for some time and got so emotional that she started crying.

Then came the twist in my life.

Suddenly there was office politics in my new job. Everything got so hectic for both of us.

Her boss was not so good, he was used to trying to approach her, which she did not like at all.

Sometimes we would meet outside office.

Those were the most beautiful moments for me because it was the first time I was taking a girl out.

She wore a beautiful dress and looked pretty.

Every time I saw her, I wanted to see her for the rest of my life.

She also liked me and loved me.

One day she told me, "You are the only person I want to live my life with. But as we belong to different castes it would not be possible for us."
Within four months I had to quit my job due to stupid politics.

I still remember that day. She was crying so much and was angry with me.

She was ready to leave me but it was difficult for both of us to not see each other.

A few months later, she also quit that job. Now she is happily married.
