North-east designer Daniel Syiem presented the glory of Meghalaya textiles on the Lakme stage.

The ethnic collection Ryindia aimed to present elegant organic garments to the world.

Syiem introduced a contemporary range with hand woven fabrics.

Crochet work gave an interesting touch to the cowl backs.

The creations reminded us of our traditional craft replete with western shapes which added to the international appeal of the garments.

Clean cuts and simple styling further highlighted the appeal.

Draped togas in swirling volumes, cascades for tunics over wide trousers, one shoulder dresses and halters with sexy long slit skirts and wrap blouses were part of the exquisite collection.

Meanwhile, Gaurang Doshi personified elegance weaving magic with traditional handlooms and Indian weaves.

The Jamdani technique worked well with pure zari on cottons and silks.

Traditional motifs, inspired by the sculptures of South Indian temples, floral and geometrics drawn from the nature are the hallmark of the creations.

It seemed like a page read out from the history books when teacher and fashion designer Shruti Sancheti presented her collection on Day Four.

Titled Swadeshi, the creations were inspired by the Indian independence movement started in Bengal during the British Raj.

Shruti's garments revisited the historical era through a range of fabrics and embellishments.

Draped sun dresses had checked covers while machined waistcoats were paired with maxis.

The range also comprised shorts under wrap skirts with puff sleeve blouses reminiscent of a bygone era.

Here, Sancheti's sun-kissed yellow and green ensemble revealed a different celebratory spirit.

Showstopper Prachi Desai entered in a white cotton silk saree with colourful chequered borders.

It wasn't just Shruti Sancheti, but designer Purvi Doshi also chose the fashion week to send a strong message to her audience.

Her collection titled Sanrakshan true to the theme, highlighted the importance of preservation of flora and fauna.

With white mulmul as the backdrop, the designs revolved around rectangle fabrics that were created into amazing draped garments.

Fluid comfortable silhouettes made for summer fashion, while the motifs featuring flowers, bugs, insects, plants, animals focussed on endangered species.

The asymmetric cut dresses, layered tunics, softly flowing long skirts and drapes are ideal for the season.

The final long white gown with beautiful floral detailing was presented by showstopper Hazel Keech.
