Britain's University of Warwick has launched a package of scholarships for Indian masters students for 2014.

A total of 17 scholarships are open for India-domiciled applicants with an excellent academic record who wish to study a taught masters degree starting next year.

Varsity Vice-Chancellor and President Nigel Thrift said the institution has long-established links with India, both through its student population and research collaborations.

"These awards further strengthen our ties to India and we look forward to welcoming the brightest and best Indian students to Warwick next year," he said.

According to a statement from the university, the scholarships are available for the Centre for Cultural Policy Studies, Department of Economics, School of Engineering, School of Life Sciences, School of Law: Upendra Baxi Scholarship, Department of Politics and International Studies and Warwick Manufacturing Group.

The announcement comes as Abhinay Muthoo, head of Warwick's Department of Economics, visits India to promote the Warwick Policy Lab, an initiative to provide an evidence-based perspective for policy-makers.

He is due to speak at an event for Warwick alumni in Delhi.
