In the smartphone arena, the Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 segment is hotly contested as it is the convergence point of flagship products of Indian companies and that of mid-range devices of MNC brands. Thus choosing a phone in this price range is very tricky.

Thus, this week, we offer a list of smartphones that fall in the range of Rs 10,000 and Rs 20,000, and are available in India.

1. Micromax Canvas Turbo A250

Micromax surprised everyone by roping Hugh Jackman, famous for his role as Wolverine, as the brand ambassador and launched the new Canvas Turbo A250 smartphone. Micromax has powered it with a quad-core 1.5 GHz MediaTek MT6589T mobile processor and 2 GB RAM.

The handset has a 13 megapixel rear camera which is assisted by an LED flash at the back.

The Canvas Turbo has a 5-inch IPS LCD display with full 1080p HD native resolution. This smartphone packs 16 GB on-board storage and also has a 5 megapixel camera in the front for video calls.

The Canvas Turbo runs Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean update and can run most apps smoothly. There is a stereo FM radio for music enthusiasts and the other features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS with APS support, Accelerometer, Compass, and a non-removable 2000 mAh battery. This dual SIM device has been launched in India for Rs 19,999.

Nokia Lumia 625

Nokia recently announced the Lumia 625 smartphone which comes with a 4.7-inch IPS LCD touchscreen display. This touchscreen has 480x800 pixel resolution and is manufactured using Corning Gorilla Glass 2 technology to save it from wear and tear.

This smartphone is powered by dual-core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8930 system-on-chip and 512 RAM. It has a 5 megapixel autofocus camera and LED Flash.

This camera can record full high-definition videos. The Lumia 625 has a front facing VGA camera as well. Nokia Lumia 625 has 8 GB on-board memory and can hold up to 64 GB micro SD card.

Nokia Lumia 625 also comes with a bunch of Lumia exclusive apps and has regular features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, FM Radio and GPS with A-GPS as well as GLONASS.

The Lumia 625 smartphone has a 2000 mAh battery and runs on Windows Phone 8. This smartphone was launched for Rs 19,999 but can now be purchased for as low as Rs 14,300 after adding discount code from Shopclues website.

Xolo Q1000S

Xolo Q1000S comes with a 5-inch IPS LCD display with 720p HD native resolution. This smartphone packs a quad-core 1.5 GHz MediaTek MTK 6589T mobile processor with PowerVR SGX544 graphics and 1 GB RAM.

By default, it offers 16 GB on-board storage without a card slot and runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with very little customisation.

The Q1000S features 13 megapixel camera at the back with LED flash. The front facing 5 megapixel camera covers wider angles and aids in video calls. The reason we like this smartphone is because it packs 2500 mAh battery that can be juiced out for longer time because this is not a dual-SIM smartphone.

Sony Xperia SP

Sony Xperia SP touts a 4.6-inch touchscreen display with 720p HD natively resolution. The display is powered by Mobile Bravia Engine 2 technology and is manufactured using Corning Gorilla Glass technology.

Though the Xperia SP is just 9.98 mm thick, it is a bit heavy at 155 grams.

Sony has packed a 2370 mAh battery to make the phone run longer. Sony Xperia SP comes pre-loaded with Sony Music and Sony LIV apps for streaming multimedia.

Sony had introduced the Xperia SP for Rs 27,490 and can now be purchased for just about Rs 20,231 from Indiatimes Shopping. This the only exception in our list that hovers around the upper limit of Rs 20,000.

HTC 8X

HTC may have shifted its focus from Windows Phone 8 but the flagship 8X smartphone continues to deliver stable performance.

The HTC 8X features a 4.3-inch Super LCD 2 display that supports 1280x720 pixel resolution natively. Measuring 10.1mm thick, the HTC 8X has a nice feel offering built.

HTC launched Windows Phone 8X in India last year for around Rs 35,000, it is now available for as low as Rs 17,999 from Flipkart Website.
