The Yamaha FZ's engine gets Blue Core technology which ensures maximum performance and minimum fuel consumption.

Yamaha has given the FZ a fuel injection system which is uncommon in this segment, writes Faisal Ali Khan of MotorBeam.com

The Yamaha FZ was launched in 2008 and since then, Yamaha hasn't given the motorcycle any update at all.

Any change we saw was only limited to the colours and graphics of the FZ, which is offered in two versions -- FZ16 and FZ-S.

Now Yamaha has finally brought out the Version 2.0 of both the bikes, called the FZ FI Version 2.0.

Let's dive into the changes.

On the styling front, not much has changed. The bike is as striking as the old model but gets minor changes to the headlight, tail light, tank and tail section.

A minor decrease in length and wheelbase along with increase in seat height has also been done. Other changes include a new tyre hugger, revised exhaust end can, split seats and new split grab rails.

Yamaha has also opted for improved tyres which use a new pattern and better compound for increased grip and higher puncture resistance.

The motorcycle also gets an updated instrument cluster which gets an Eco meter as well.

The seats are longer and wider for improved comfort for both the rider and the pillion.

The major change is to the engine.

Yamaha has reduced the capacity by 4cc and the new motor is a 149cc unit that outputs 13.1 PS of power at 8000 RPM and 12.8 Nm of torque at 6000 RPM.

There is a minor decrease in power and torque as the old model produced 14 PS and 13.6 Nm.

Yamaha has added a close loop fuel injection system to the bike and claims that performance is the same as before but efficiency has increased by 14 per cent.

The Yamaha FZ's engine gets Blue Core technology which ensures maximum performance and minimum fuel consumption.

The bike is now BS4 compliant and sees a massive reduction in emissions.

Yamaha has priced the Version 2 of the FZ at Rs 76,250 while the FZ-S is priced at a Rs 2000 premium; the latter gets a front visor and body graphics.

The prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
