The Vespa Esclusivo is based on the VX variant and will create some excitement around this iconic scooter brand, says Faisal Ali Khan of MotorBeam.com

Piaggio has been selling its popular Vespa scooter in India since a long time now, first with Bajaj Auto and then with LML.

A couple of years back, the Italian automaker launched the Vespa in the Indian market, without having any partnership; the third coming of this retro scooter was solo.

After having launched three variants of the Vespa (LX, VX and S), the company has now launched the Esclusivo limited edition variant in the country.

The Vespa Esclusivo is the first limited edition model of the Vespa scooter in India.

Only 1,000 units will be offered with every unit having a number badge to it, which gives it exclusivity.

Based on the VX variant, the Vespa Esclusivo gets checkered body graphics, two-tone black and silver finishing on the alloy wheels, grey colour seat with a black finish on the sides and contrast stitching.

The number badge is positioned on the storage lid.

Three colours are offered namely white, black and red.

Piaggio has made absolutely no mechanical changes to the scooter: it is powered by a 125cc, 3-valve motor which belts out 10 PS of power and 10.06 Nm of torque, matched to a CVT gearbox.

Piaggio has started sales of the Vespa Esclusivo, which is priced at Rs 81,786 in Mumbai (ex-showroom).

The scooter was previewed in certain cities with pre-bookings being done prior to the launch. The automaker says it plans to launch at least one (or even two) limited edition models in India every year.
