2 States: We got married without her parents' permission

We asked you, our dear readers to share your 2 States stories with us. Kiran Parmar shares his:

My wife comes from Tamil Nadu and I come from Gujarat.

We met in Mumbai in 2009 where we were doing our MBA.

At first we were just friends but slowly we got to know each other better.

One lovely afternoon while bunking college and the sun shining on Juhu beach, I asked her to marry me.

Time stood still till I heard that one special word -- YES! :-)

But this was just the beginning.

Inspired from Bollywood we thought that we would easily convince our families and all would be fine.

It wasn't as easy as we thought. This wasn't going to be a three-hour drama!

While my parents had agreed to the match, her parents made it clear that they wouldn't let it happen.

The struggle began: We tried to convince her parents for eight months but they wouldn't agree.

Finally, we got married without her parents' permission in the court on August 16, 2011.

Pratibha's family was really upset and they stopped talking to her.

That was really a tough time for her.

But meanwhile, she also settled well in our family and after a good year and a half later, her parents accepted our marriage.

We got the happy ending we wanted… but then a year later things changed.

I fell in love with another girl...

Our daughter Yashhi :-)
