Savon one fight away from historyThe Rediff TeamCuban boxing legend Felix Savon reached his third Olympic heavyweight final, outpointing Sebastian Kober of Germany. The boxing legend, who in the earlier round outpointed world champion Michael Bennett of the USA 23-8 in three rounds before the referee stopped the fight, beat Kober 14-8 but this time, met with resistance from the German. Kober opened up a cut under Savon's eye during the third round, but it did not seem to unduly trouble the 1.98-metre champion. If he wins the final, he will have three successive golds in the Olympics, equalling the record of his countryman and idol Teofilo Stevenson, and Hungary's Lazlo Papp before that. He will face Russian Sultanahmed Ibzagimov in Saturday's final. Read the story of the Bennet fight: Savon on song
