Ruling out any lull in the US-led attacks against Afghanistan during Ramadan, British Prime Minister Tony Blair said the campaign would continue till the objectives met, referring to the US efforts to capture Osama bin Laden, dead or alive.
"Of course we have to be aware of the sensitivities of Muslims and we are aware of the sensitivities, and of course the Taleban will continue to fight during that time. We must, therefore, take account as we pursue our campaign of those sensitivities. But in the end everyone understands that the campaign has to continue ultimately until the objectives are secured." Blair told a joint press conference with Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf at Downing Street.
Musharraf reiterated that he wanted to see a 'short and targeted' military campaign -- one that would hopefully end before Ramadan.
Ramadan is due to begin on November 17.
"We would certainly hope that the military operation comes to an end as fast as possible, as swiftly as possible before the month of Ramadan," he said.
