Senior Taleban officials defect: Pentagon

The Pentagon on Thursday said some senior Taleban officials had defected, and, in some cases, were providing the United States with intelligence.

"It is very clear that there have been some defections and there have been some defections of some of the more senior people," Pentagon's chief spokesperson Victoria Clarke said.

"I just don't have names that I can share," she said

"In some cases we have had access to them."
