The Taleban on Sunday night termed the United States-led attack against Afghanistan as a "terrorist act".
The defiant militia said it would not deliver Saudi dissident Osama bin Laden, who is suspected to be behind the September 11 attacks on US cities, the Afghan Islamic Press reported.
"The US attack is a terrorist act," the agency quoted Taleban ambassador to Pakistan Abdul Salam Zaeef as saying, as several Afghan cities came under heavy air and missile attack.
"We cannot hand over Osama to the US," Zaeef said.
"This is an attack on an independent country. We will fight until our last breath."
"America will be responsible for the killing of poor people," Zaeef said.
Meanwhile, Osama bin Laden, in a brief statement to Al-Jazeera TV, said that the strikes were tantamount to a war against Islam, and "called on all believers" to support the Taleban regime.
