Close on the heels of the release of the British woman scribe Yvonne Ridley by the Taleban, the BBC on Tuesday reported that the Islamic militia has taken into custody a French scribe, Michel Peyrard of the weekly Paris Match magazine, for trying to enter Afghanistan by disguising himself in a burqa.
He was reportedly arrested near the border with Pakistan in the Goshta district of Nangarhar province, 35 km east of the Afghan city of Jalalabad.
The report quoting Afghan Islamic Press said two other men, thought to be either Afghan or Pakistani nationals, were also arrested.
All women in the Taleban-controlled areas are obliged to wear the burqa.
