A 35-year-old woman who worked at American Media Inc's office building in Boca Raton, south Florida, has also tested positive for anthrax infection.
The woman was a colleague of British photo-journalist Robert Stevens who died last week of the disease.
Another colleague of Stevens is already undergoing treatment at a South Florida hospital for the disease.
Neither his name nor that of the woman has been released by health authorities.
The emergence of the third case has convinced the Federal Bureau of Investigation of foul play in the incident. These three cases of anthrax are the first to be reported anywhere in the US since 1974, and all of them have originated from the same office building.
