A bomb crashed into the International Committee of Red Cross compound in Kabul on Tuesday setting two warehouses on fire, CNN reported.
The Red Cross said one of its workers there was injured.
One warehouse contained blankets, tents and medicine while the other contained wheat, ICRC staffers at the scene said.
"I can confirm that a warehouse was hit at 1.30 pm (1430 IST) this afternoon and one person has been injured," Mario Musa, Red Cross spokesman in Islamabad said.
He added, his organisation despite the damage incurred, continued to work in the area.
Musa said there were about 1,000 Afghan personnel of the Red Cross working throughout Afghanistan, 500 of them in Kabul alone, since all the expatriate workers of the organisation were forced to leave with all other foreign nationals on September 16.
Musa added that the warehouse had huge Red Cross signs painted on the roof, and expressed surprise at being hit.
"There is no question about the ICRC's activities ... Military targets should be hit but civilian targets should not be hit." A visibly upset Monin said.
The Red Cross has been working in Afghanistan since 1986.
The Al Jazeera network reported that power lines and water supply lines in the capital of Afghanistan had been disrupted, plunging Kabul into darkness.
