At least 100 people were killed in the recent bombardment by the US of a hospital in the western Afghan city of Herat, Online news agency quoted a Taliban diplomat as saying on Monday.
"The victims were patients and hospital staff. This is brutality," Taleban Ambassador to Pakistan Mullah Abdul Salaam Zaeef told a huge gathering of national and international mediapersons in Islamabad.
"Intentionally, US warplanes are targeting innocent Afghan people. They want to punish the Afghan nation for having chosen the Islamic system," he added.
Zaeef repeated the claim of his government of having shot down an American military helicopter in southwestern Afghanistan.
The Pentagon had denied the claim and said that the helicopter had crashed inside Pakistan due to a technical fault.
