Musharraf reiterates demand for swift end to US air strikes

Pakistani President Gen Pervez Musharraf on Friday reiterated his demand for a short and targeted bombing campaign against Afghanistan's ruling Taleban regime to flush out Saudi extremist Osama bin Laden.

"We strongly believe that the campaign in Afghanistan should be short and targeted and must avoid loss of civilian lives," he told a joint press conference in Islamabad after talks with visiting Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer.

Musharraf's comments came amid rising concern among Muslim countries over civilian casualties as a result of the US-led bombing of Taleban-ruled Afghanistan.
