US does not share Musharraf's assessment on war

The United States says it does not appreciate Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's constant advice for a bombing pause in Afghanistan during the holy month of Ramadan.

Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer told reporters on Monday night that they did not share Musharraf's assessment on the US-led war against Afghanistan, though they appreciated his help to the coalition in its onslaught against global terrorism.

Both were asked to comment on Musharraf's desire to see it shortened as soon as possible.

Rumsfeld and Pentagon officials at their briefing said the war was progressing well. Rumsfeld pointed out these things take time saying "There is no silver bullet".
