The New Zealand police are baffled by the disappearance a month ago of an Indo-Fijian student from a house in Auckland.
Avnil Preetesh Karan, a 20-year-old Auckland University student, last spoke to his mother on August 8.
Karan's clothes were found at Half Moon Bay while his other personal belongings like wallet and mobile phone were at his Bucklands Beach house.
In spite of his mysterious disappearance over one month ago, the police and family are treating Karan as a missing person.
The family is also reported to have engaged a clairvoyant and divers to find clues to his whereabouts. But the exercises have failed to yield any new evidence.
Senior Sergeant Dave Ollerenshaw of the Howick police told the Waikato Times newspaper that because of the lack of evidence, Karan's disappearance is being treated as a missing person case.
But the police are making renewed efforts to find any suggestion of foul play that may prompt them to upgrade the case to homicide or murder.
The Howick police are reportedly looking for the occupants of two cars with whom the missing student was last seen on the day of his disappearance in a nearby shopping centre.
