A foreign news agency on Tuesday quoting Western and Pakistani diplomatic sources said around 50 United States agents, including some from the special forces, have already landed in Pakistan.
The sources said the agents arrived on Thursday night and Friday morning, when the Islamabad airport was closed for five hours.
The report said the agents are involved in the selection of Pakistani officers to work with them, if the US decides to conduct raids in Afghanistan to nab Osama bin Laden.
They are also reportedly studying the feasibility of sending ground troops into Afghanistan.
The report said some of the agents have gone to Quetta, in southwestern Pakistan, and the remaining to Peshawar in the northwest.
Both cities border Afghanistan.
US Secretary of State Colin Powell said on Sunday a team of officials would be arriving in Pakistan to follow up on Islamabad's offer to help with anti-terrorism measures.
