Saddam's stepson accepts he made mistake over US entry visa

Saddam's Hussein's stepson, in custody of United States immigration authorities, has admitted to not having proper travel documents to enter the country, officials in New Zealand said on Friday.

Mohammed Nour al-Din Saffi (36), a New Zealand citizen and an engineer with national carrier Air New Zealand, was enrolled for a re-certification course for his pilot's license.

However, he entered the US on a tourist visa, though he was required to have a student visa.

He was picked up by authorities as the training school he was to attend was allegedly used by the hijackers involved in the September 11 terrorist attacks.

A spokesman for New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark said the government had 'no evidence that he is connected to terrorist activities or to terrorist organisations'.
