A lost toss, Shane Bond and James Franklin on a lively pitch, another inexplicable Jacques Kallis crawl and the good sense to get Jeetan Patel to partner Daniel Vettori meant that South Africa could only put up a meagre target of 194 for New Zealand to chase.

The Rediff.com expert believed New Zealand could get 230. The Pressure Index (PI), therefore, opened at 59.

South Africa's best chance was when they had the Kiwis at 42 for 2 at around the 12th over; the PI at that point was 82.

But Scott Styris again showed that dogged resolve that has made him New Zealand's most valuable player in this World Cup.

Styris and captain Stephen Fleming stayed together till the 30th over to ensure that they effectively shut the door on Soth Africa.

When Fleming departed, New Zealand's PI was below 60. There was no way they could lose after that.
