Response to allegations made against Ajay Jadeja in the CBI Report on match-fixing and related malpractices in cricket.

4. Kishan Kumar

The CBI report states:

"Jadeja accepts that he knows Kishan Kumar, but that he did not have any knowledge that he was a punter."

I accepted before the CBI (page 76 of the Report) that I knew Kishan Kumar. I have known Kishan Kumar for some time as an actor(in the same way that I know various other film stars). I visit Bombay frequently and on some of these visits I have called him and met him on social occasions and similarly he has done so when he has visited Delhi. I would certainly talk to him whenever we met.

However, at no point of time have I had any knowledge whatsoever of his involvement with the cricket betting racket in any capacity. As stated in page 114 of the Report, Kishan Kumar is implicated in the Hansie Cronje case.

If this is indeed the case, then the CBI and the police should have manuscripts of Kishan Kumar's telephone conversations during this period. This means they would be aware of the contents of any conversation I may have had with Kishan Kumar and I would imagine that if the CBI or police would have found anything suspicious in those conversations, this would have been disclosed in the Report.

In my view this goes towards proving that I had nothing to do with match fixing or else evidence would have been found against me.

5. Ajay Gupta

I have never met tjis Ajay Gupta, who the CBI has stated was close to me on page 114 of the Report nor heard of him prior to reading his name in the CBI Report. Further, Ajay Gupta's statement at page 40 has no reference to me. I am therefore unaware why they have mentioned his name in relation to mine in this place in the Report.
