Rhodes to lead SA in Hong Kong Sixes

Fakir Hassen

Jonty Rhodes will captain the South African team that will play pool matches against India and Sri Lanka on Saturday, on the first day of the Hong Kong Sixes cricket tournament.

The tournament will be held on November 10 and 11, with South Africa playing against Hong Kong on the second day.

Australia, England, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates teams are also competing.

The Indian national side will also face a new captain in the South African 'A' side matches at East London from November 10 to 13.

Dale Benkenstein, captain of provincial KwaZulu-Natal Dolphins team, has been selected to replace H.D. Ackerman, who suffered a shoulder injury.

In another change due to injury, Highveld Strikers batsman Daryll Cullinan will match wits against the Indians after he failed to make it to any game in the current tour by India.

Cullinan, whose contract for the South African national team was not renewed because he was playing county cricket in England, replaces Justin Ontong, who is recovering from a hamstring injury.

Cullinan said he is itching for some action against international competition, and will be looking forward to proving himself against India so that selectors take another look at including him in the Australian home and away tour next month.
