Lele confident of match being declared official
Former Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary Jaywant Lele on Saturday expressed confidence that the International Cricket Council would declare the third and final match of the India-South Africa Test series official at a later date.
"If I am not mistaken a Test match between Australia and New Zealand was given unofficial status by ICC some time back, but eventually it was ruled an official Test," Lele said.
"I am confident that the on-going third Test match at Centurion will be considered official as the match referees have been making mistakes and we have a point to appeal," Lele said.
Joint secretary of Bombay Cricket Association and a member of BCCI, Prof Ratnakar Shetty said ICC should have honoured at least one of the two requests -- to replace match referee Mike Denness or set up a committee to re-examine his penalties on the Indian players.
