Laxman confident of doing well
Middle order batsman V V S Laxman on Monday said he is confident of coming up with a good performance in the ongoing triangular series and the three Tests against South Africa next month.
"Though it has been a pleasent surprise (call-up for one-
dayers), I want to go and give hundred per cent to the team
and probably win both the triangular tournament and the Test
series as well," a relaxed and confident-looking Laxman said on the eve of his departure for South Africa to
reinforce the Indian team in the last two one-day matches.
"I think it is good I am going a bit early, so that I can
get used to the bouncy wickets over there before the Tests
begin. I am also looking forward to playing their fast bowlers
on those wickets, where the ball will come on at a good height
to play your strokes," the wristy player from Hyderabad added.
Laxman, who underwent a knee surgery in Australia
recently, could not join the Indian team earlier as he was
asked by his doctors to rest his knee for some more time.
However, he proved his fitness in the five-day Irani
Trophy cricket match, when he led the Rest of India team to victory
with a responsible century in the second innings against Ranji
Trophy champions Baroda at Nagpur recently.
